Over the years, Magdalena immersed herself in the study and practice of ceramics, refining her technique and developing a deep understanding of its properties.
For her, ceramics are not just a means of artistic expression, but also a way to connect with nature and the world around her. Increasingly captivated by the beauty and uniqueness of this ancient art, she decided to implement her ideas and projects, using ceramics as her canvas and tool of creation.
“I am passionate about creating objects that blend design, functionality, and tradition. Inspired by the ancient craft and design, I seek to bring to life unique and versatile ceramic pieces. My vision of design is to challenge standards. I change the scale of the pieces to propose new concepts and create unique environments.”
BLAU is the materialization of my vision: a space where ceramics reinvent themselves, history is renewed, and craftsmanship becomes a contemporary language.
About
BLAU, which means “blue” in Catalan, the color blue is present in the sky, in the valleys, and in the mountains, symbolizing purity, vastness, and connection with nature.
the creative process
Creative Process.
We start with the idea phase, where we explore concepts and themes that inspire us. Then, we move on to the sketch phase, where we translate these ideas into drawings and prototypes. Next, we immerse ourselves in experimentation, trying out different techniques and materials to find the perfect combination that brings our vision to life. Each step is guided by a deep understanding of the material and a passion for design. Our hands shape the clay, engaging in a dialogue between geometry and the rawness of nature.
Fire, an essential element, completes the transformation. Blau pieces are imbued with the strength and mystery of fire, acquiring unique resilience and beauty.
Materiality.
Our pieces are made of stoneware ceramic: a paste formed by natural minerals such as clays, silica, and fluxes, such as feldspar. When fired at high temperatures, stoneware ceramic has low porosity and high hardness. Pieces characterized by exceptional durability, allowing them to endure over time and they have the particularity of being unique and unrepeatable, as they are made through artisanal production.
The result is timeless ceramic pieces, full of meaning and authenticity. Objects that not only decorate but also convey history and culture.
